This year a publishing house Baltos lankos solemnly celebrates its 18th birthday. Established in 1992 as an editorial office of a magazine Baltos lankos, the publishing house meets 2010 changed and with increased staff and number of publications.Its publishing priorities, however, have not changed: a preference is given to humanities and social sciences, stress is put on a high literary and artistic quality of the publications. It is Mr. Saulius Žukas, a director and owner of the publishing house, PhD in Humanities and author of many articles and books, who supports loyalty to these values and has stood at the wheel of the publishing house from its very beginning.
Baltos lankos publishes fiction by Lithuanian and foreign authors, academic books on humanities, course books for secondary schools, cognitive cultural guides around Lithuania, illustrated children books, etc. The publishing house has published a variety of serious publications, albums and dictionaries during 18 years of operation.
An academic magazine Baltos lankos, the beginning of the publishing house, is still being published and this year will see its 31th issue. The latest and most serious philosophic, semiotic and cultural articles find their non-alternative niche in this magazine.
